Safety-oriented and innovative: Signaling and Alerting Technology from Pfannenberg at the Security 2014

Pfannenberg presents new products to an audience of trade experts in Essen from 23rd to 26th September

Hamburg, September 2014. Pfannenberg, the specialist for signaling and alerting technology, presents the latest generation of PYRA®-flashing lights and flashing sounders at the fair Security 2014 in Essen. Pfannenberg is worldwide the first provider of flashing lights/flashing sounders for particularly high ceilings of up to 13.5m. In addition, modular signaling towers BR 50 and 35 for the display of process states and SIL/PL-conform signaling devices for the implementation of security oriented signaling according to machine guidelines will be presented. Pfannenberg has provided a 10 year warranty on visual and audible signaling devices for applications in industry and building services since November 2013. Pfannenberg will be available for all questions regarding efficient signaling and alerting technology at the Security 2014 from 23rd to 26th September in hall 1.0 at booth 422. In addition, the Pfannenberg experts will give two presentations at the fair on the correct use of audible and visual signaling devices.

PYRA®-series: Alert safely with ceiling heights of up to 13.5m

Pfannenberg’s flashing lights from the PYRA®-series are already in use at several locations where alerting has to take place in compliance with DIN EN 54-23. Examples for this are industrial halls with high background noise where ear protection is worn, institutions for the hard of hearing or buildings with disabled access, as alerting of at least 2 senses is necessary in these cases. The flashing lights in a pyramid shaped design will now be extended by a version which is suitable for use in rooms with ceilings of up to 13.5m in height. With this Pfannenberg provides, as the only manufacturer of signaling technology, flashing lights for this sector of signaling. The latest generation of signaling devices is, above all, cost-saving: due to the high effectiveness of the Xenon-lights and the optimised lens shape, the number of signaling devices required is reduced. Owing to the automatic contacting of the top and bottom parts and the quick fasteners that are already well-known from the Pfannenberg PATROL-series, the mounting and installation times are reduced. In addition, incorrect assembly is virtually impossible due to the protection against turning and the pre-wiring. Therefore, both the operational safety and the safety of staff during the installation process are significantly increased.

For more process safety: Signal towers BR 50 and BR 35

The signal towers BR 50 and BR 35 are used everywhere where the current status of machines and processes need to be displayed and warning signals have to be given. They work according to the traffic light principle and because they are based on a modular system, the multiple lights can be combined as required – according to the warning status that to be signalized. The lights show process statuses like “start”, “warming-up phase or “overheating” with a structure that is intuitively understandable; thus they ensure that the employees are informed reliably. A robust lens with a stable, stainless steel stand and the high system of protection IP 54 ensure they can be used flexibly in harsh environments, inside and outside. As an option, the signal towers can also be equipped with a sounder module (85 dB).

SIL/PL-compliant signaling devices for more planning security

The SIL/PL-compliant signaling devices from Pfannenberg give planning security, in particular for machine and system constructors. The safety-oriented sounders from the DS-series and flashing lights of the Quadro and PMF series were developed in accordance with the standards EN ISO 13849-1 and DIN IEC 62061. These, in turn, are harmonised under the EU machinery directive (since the 1st January 2010). Visual and audible alerting equipment from Pfannenberg are equipped with the necessary safety-related parameters and are well suited to implement different security levels. They are available as individual devices with safety functions and as devices with more complex functions – for high safety-related demands. As a rule they are self-monitoring and enable a self-diagnosis of the status of the device.

Specialist lectures by Pfannenberg Experts

Mark Egbers, expert for signaling at Pfannenberg, will give lectures on the correct use of signaling solutions in the fair forum for the audience of trade experts. On Wednesday 24th September 2014 at 12:15 the lecture will be on the correct layout of visual and audible signaling devices and which values should be used when planning. On Thursday 25th September 2014 at 10:45 another lectures follows, this time the topic is: Effects of signaling range and mounting and installation category on the planning and projecting of visual signaling devices according to EN 54-23. “For all professional visitors who have no opportunity to attend our lectures, we will also give regular presentations at the Pfannenberg booth. Our specialists don’t only have technical expertise, they can also give practical advice regarding the most important standards,” explains Mark Egbers.
