Climate Action

We have identified our main levers for decarbonisation and set clear reduction goals until 2030 and strive for long-term climate-neutrality.

Based on 2021, we have calculated our corporate carbon footprint for the German site according to ISO 14064. In 2022, we included our second European site in Italy and measured the carbon footprint in more detail according to the GHG Protocol. Gradually, we will include further international sites into our carbon accounting. With reference to our 2023 baseline, we already committed to reduce our emissions (Scope 1-2) by 50% until 2030, which aligns to the Paris Climate Pledge.

By substituting existing energy sources and applying sustainable energy such as solar panels, we are ensuring Pfannenberg’s sustainable and future-oriented energy supply. The electrification of the company fleet and other measures within our Green Factory approach further contribute to fulfilling our reduction goals in Scope 1-2.

The aim is to minimise continuously our emissions to realise a climate-neutral CO2e balance of the production sites in the long term.

Almost 95% of our emissions derive from Scope 3, primarily upstream from refrigerant use and materials such as plastics. Each year, we draw up a refrigerant balance sheet to assess the climate impact of the refrigerants used and have set a goal to the use of alternative refrigerants. We also intensified our efforts to analyse emission reduction potential from different materials and are in the process of drafting measures for emission reduction in our supply chain.
