Hamburg, Floating Crane

On October 16, 2018, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Hamburger Abendblatt, the light artist Michael Batz lit the 74 meter high floating crane III in the Port of Hamburg. The floating crane from 1941 was maneuvered from the terminal Tollerort at the Vulkanhafen in the direction of the Elbphilharmonie. More than 1000 lights were used: around 600 of the Pfannenberg type Quadro R flashing lights already known from the Paris Eiffel Tower, 400 fluorescent tubes in light and dark green as well as LED spots. The installation was carried out by the special company HG-Technik.
