Sound pressure levels of Pfannenberg sounders „improved“

Actual sound pressure level higher than declared class value

Hamburg, 8 June, 2018. In the past sounders were divided in separate arbitrary classes like 100 dB, 105 dB, 110 dB, 120 dB. So far Pfannenberg also assigned its sounder to those classes, such as the DS 5 as a 105 dB sounder and the PA 10 as a 110 dB sounder. Already in the past the realistic sound pressure level (SPL) of Pfannenberg sounders was higher than the classes figure.

Today Pfannenberg has a different market access with the planning method "Pfannenberg 3D-Coverage". This makes the classes obsolete and sounders must now be considered in terms of actual performance. Each tone has its own sound pressure level and considering the Pfannenberg 3D Coverage, only a single SPL value cannot display the sounder's actual performance. However, the usual market practice is the specification of a single SPL value. Therefore, Pfannenberg is now presenting the max. actual power in dB (A) of its sounders. This information is crucial with regard to the EN 54 fire alarm applications, because here the values are only displayed in technical data tables, but not in the product headings or type designations.
